Elise from Asda Gillingham Pier plays for England at the Korfball World Championships

Good luck to Elise Sparks from our Gillingham Pier store who's playing for the England under-19 squad in the Korfball World Championships in the Netherlands this weekend.

Elise has loved playing the sport – a cross between netball and basketball where men and women can play on the same team and against each other – for 10 years, and has represented England at various age levels. Read more

Little Ava is all smiles on her behind the scenes tour of Asda Forfar

Three-year-old Ava Melrose loves everything about Asda and gets so excited about joining her parents Donna and Alan on their regular visits to our Forfar store that they end up calling in most days.

Ava has autism, global developmental delay and communication problems which mean she can only say a few words – and 'Asda' is one of them. When the store's community champion Andrea Logan heard how much Ava loves Asda she invited the family – including Ava's one-year-old sister Fay – in for a behind-the-scenes tour. Read more

Volunteers at Belfast community hub receive £20,000 Asda Foundation donation

A 'fantastic' Belfast community hub which offers activities for hundreds of people every week has received a £20,000 donation from the Asda Foundation to help them buy new equipment for their refurbished centre.

Our Westwood store's community champion Noeleen McMahon volunteers regularly with Newhill Youth and Community Association, which offers a creche, school holiday activities, a youth club, dance classes and more, and says she was delighted to present them with the cheque. Read more

School pupils enjoy using Happy Little Helpers boards with the Makaton counters

Pupils from a school in Tunbridge Wells had great fun when they came into their local Asda to try out our Happy Little Helpers boards with the Makaton counters – which are designed to make shopping trips more enjoyable and less stressful for people with additional needs.

We've worked with The Makaton Charity to roll out the boards which use their well-known black and white symbols to help with communication. Read more

Fight Hunger funding pays for bigger warehouse in Newcastle to help more people in need

Our £20 million Fight Hunger Create Change campaign has paid for food charity FareShare to relocate their Newcastle warehouse to a bigger site that will help them provide fresh food to thousands more local people in need.

Our Boldon store's community champion Tracey Tough was one of our colleagues who joined the FareShare team for the day to officially open the distribution hub in Westerhope. Read more
