Great-grandad Trevor loves the service from his Asda 'family'

93-year-old widower Trevor Hughes has shopped at our Dunstable store every week since it opened in 2001 and says our colleagues there are like a family to him.

Trevor has been blind for the last 11 years, so Michelle Ruffles (right in the picture above), Debbie Scott (second from the right) and other colleagues guide him round the store, explain special offers and cooking instructions, before taking him to the store's cafe when he's finished. Read more

St Patrick's Day surprise for the Irish community group tackling loneliness

They helped look after 150 guests at a St Patrick's Day party at the Irish Community Services' lunch club before presenting the organisers with a £1,000 donation from the Asda Foundation to help fund other activities for the group. Read more

Liz starts friendship group to tackle loneliness and bring people together

Our Warrington store's wonderful community champion Liz Cotterill has set up a community friendship group to help combat loneliness and make it easier for people who might otherwise be isolated to make new friends.

Liz started the group at the store's café for people of all ages to get involved with activities, hear about what's going on in the area and have a chat over a cuppa after she heard people from some of the local groups she volunteers with say they didn't have anywhere to meet new people. Read more

Our Free From bunny is making George and Isabella happy this Easter

Look how excited George and Isabella McIntyre are about our new Free From Choc Easter Bunny – which was inspired by a Facebook request from their mummy Laura.

Both of them have dairy allergies and Laura told us it was a shame they couldn’t enjoy the kind of fun chocolate animals their friends had at Easter. Our Free From team agreed and went into action, developing a dairy free chocolate bunny in time for Easter. George, who's six, and three-year-old Isabella called in to our Stockton store with Laura where the store's community champion Michaela Palfreeman gave them the new bunny to try, as well as some other Easter treats and goodies. Susan celebrates Mother's Day with her Asda 'work mum' Tina

Happy Mother’s Day! Our Longwell Green store’s community champion Susan Grant says her colleague Tina Lawrence was “truly like a mum” to her when she was diagnosed with breast cancer.

It was an especially frightening time for Susan as she’d lost her own mum to breast cancer 16 years before, but Tina was a huge support through her treatment, surgery and recovery – and was one of the first to welcome her back when she returned to work at the store in Bristol. Read more
