Extra special Christmas party surprise for Clacton service veterans

Our Clacton-on-Sea store’s community champion Amy Openshaw pulled out all the stops to arrange an extra special Christmas party to say thank you to the ex-service personnel who’ve given so much over the years.

Amy works closely with the Clacton Veterans Breakfast Club – a group formed after they helped to open the store three years ago – and secured a donation from the Asda Foundation to help pay for their three-course Christmas meal at St John's church hall. Read more

We've cut the price of fuel for the second time in a fortnight

We've cut the price of unleaded petrol by 2p per litre and diesel by 1p per litre – our second price cut in the last two weeks.

Because we operate a national price cap, drivers filling up at any Asda petrol station from December 13 will pay no more than 117.7p per litre for unleaded and 122.7p per litre for diesel. Read more

Sam arranges extra special Christmas party for foster families

The group couldn't afford to hold a festive event after hosting their awards evening in September, so Sam secured a donation from the Asda Foundation to pay for a party for a group of 30 children, their parents and carers, as well as arranging for a storyteller to put on a show for the younger children, organising food and drink, treats for the children and a visit from Santa. When seven-year-old Ellie McShane helps her parents Richard and Jane with the weekly shop at our Toryglen store she always heads straight for our checkout colleague Izzy Ralston – and they've formed such a special bond that Izzy calls Ellie her "honorary granddaughter".

Ellie, who has Down's Syndrome, has been coming to the store since she was little and loves helping Izzy scan the shopping. Read more
