'Phenomenal' colleague Denise nominated for BBC Sports Personality of the Year's Unsung Hero award

Well done to our fantastic colleague Denise Larrad who's been nominated for BBC Sports Personality of the Year's Unsung Hero award after inspiring local people to join her fitness groups.

Denise, who works at our Lutterworth depot, has set up running and walking clubs for people aged 14 to 72 and has also run marathons and climbed Kilimanjaro, raising tens of thousands of pounds for charity. Read more

Pudsey joins Asda colleagues on a special school visit for Children in Need

Colleagues at our stores across the country are getting behind this year's BBC Children in Need appeal – like Sandra Deakins and Phil Henderson who joined Pudsey for a special visit to a primary school ... in Pudsey.

They read his first book, Playtime with Pudsey, to reception class pupils at Park Spring Primary School as part of our Power of Play initiative with BBC Children in Need. Money raised at Asda this year is being used to help inspire youngsters with new playtime ideas and give disadvantaged children more opportunities to play. Read more

One of our oldest customers – 99-year-old Beatrice Furlong – has been busy knitting woollen poppies to raise money for the annual Poppy Appeal at our Worcester store.

Royal British Legion thank Asda colleagues for their Poppy Appeal support

Our colleagues across the country are big supporters of the annual Poppy Appeal – and in Sittingbourne the local Royal British Legion have recognised the store’s efforts with a special award.

Their secretary Dave Powell – pictured above with the store's community champion Claire Fosbeary – said: "Asda and Claire really are brilliant. If it wasn't for their backing, we wouldn't be able to do what we do." Read more

Friendly Thornaby store colleagues are ‘like a family’ to 82-year-old Wilf

Wilf Reed – who’s 82 – comes in to our Thornaby store every day of the week and always has a smile on his face as he shops and chats to colleagues like Linda Moody, who’s worked there for 47 years.

Wilf’s daughter Elaine (pictured below, right) said the store has become “a very social outlet for him” since his wife Marion died four years ago. Read more
