'Fantastic role model' Fleur inspires students with careers talk at her old school

When Fleur Foster was two years old doctors told her parents she might not be able to speak because of her autism – but now she's doing so well after getting a job at our Isle of Wight store that her old school invited her back to give a careers talk.

Fleur, who's 23, has worked at the store since it opened two years ago. Her colleagues, friends and family have seen her confidence soar in that time and she was invited back to St George's Special School by her proud former teachers. Read more

Support our campaign to Fight Hunger

Our Fight Hunger campaign is up and running in our store. The bunting is up and the trolley wrapped in full view for customers. Even after half-an-hour of being there items had already been donated. Customers are marvellous people who always support our local food bank.– Clare, Asda community champion

£800 boost to primary school

I was proud to hand over a top-up cheque from the Asda Foundation to Lorna, one of our George colleagues, who does lots of fundraising for Bay Primary School in Sandown. She ran the raffle at her summer fair and raised £500 – so the top up raises to £800. Well done Lorna.– Clare, Asda community champion

£800 top-up grant to hospice

I was delighted to present an Asda Foundation top-up cheque of £800 to Jax Jones from Mountbatten Hospice after eight store colleagues completed the 26-mile Walk The Wight event. With the top-up grant, the total raised was just under £1,200, so a big thank you to everyone who took part – and to the Asda Foundation for their support. Pictured with Jax and me are colleagues Kieran and Kara who took part in the walk.– Clare, Asda community champion

Turning the store pink

We turned the store pink to raise awareness for Tickled Pink as it's very close to our hearts at the moment as we are all supporting our colleague, Tracy. I had a spin the wheel in the foyer with a hamper raffle for colleagues and we wore pink for the day. In total we raised £150. Well done everyone.
