Good luck to Harry Jones who works at our Wrexham store and will be playing wheelchair rugby league for Wales in the Celtic Cup this weekend.

Harry, who's 20, took up the sport six years ago when he was diagnosed with photosensitive epilepsy and had to stop playing running rugby. Read more

Matthew's going for gold as part of Team GB's Special Olympics squad

Congratulations to Matthew White from our Dundee Kirkton store who's been selected for the Great Britain team for the Special Olympics World Summer Games in Abu Dhabi.

Matthew, who's 38, has learning disabilities which mean he struggles with reading, writing and understanding. He's worked at the store as a porter for 17 years. With the help and encouragement of his mum Sheila, he applied for a place on the ten pin bowling team for the Summer Olympics, and impressed the selection panel with his sporting talent and personal qualities – and he'll now join a 192-strong British team at the games next March. Minibus paid for by Asda Foundation grant helps community action group

Our Bury St Edmunds store’s community champion Michelle Frost handed over the keys to a minibus which the volunteers working to transform an estate in the town say is “making a massive difference” to their efforts.

The Priors Estate Action Group bought the bus with a surprise £10,000 donation they were given by the Asda Foundation last Christmas. It means they can organise day trips for elderly people who might otherwise be isolated and they've been able to set up a new football team for children living on the estate. Read more

Our inspirational Sutton colleague Amanda has lost 11 stone

Well done to our inspirational colleague Amanda Wood who's changed her life and amazed colleagues and customers at our Sutton store by losing 11 stone in the last few years.

Amanda joined Weight Watchers in 2013 when she weighed 22 stone nine pounds and was a size 30. Through gradually changing her eating habits, controlling food portions and taking up regular exercise, she's lost half her body weight and now wears either size eight or size ten clothes. Read more
