RIP Trevor Hughes
Since the Dunstable store opened 17 years ago, Trevor Hughes had been a regular customer coming into the store around 9.45 every Saturday morning. As he was totally blind any available colleague would help him around the store to get his shopping. When they were finished, he always went to our cafe and had a bacon sandwich and two cups of coffee before going home. He always purchased three Lotto tickets – two for himself and one for the Asda colleague who had helped him. As far as I know, he never won a prize. Sadly, a few weeks ago he had an accident at home, was admitted to hospital but died within a few days. I was the last Asda colleague to take him shopping and I checked the ticket last week – I won £10.60! I have put the money into a collection box for 'Sight Concern' which is the charity chosen by his family.
