Local cricket club receive Asda Foundation donation

Ulverston Junior Cricket Club received their Asda Foundation cheque for £650 from Barrow community champion Gill Gerrish. This will allow them to replace their training net and buy new kit.

Helping with Millom flood recovery 

We donated essential supplies including mops, bleach and disinfectant to help with the clean-up operations after the flash floods in Millom. Around 350 homes were flooded out with high surface water, drains and toilets backing up and mud and debris from the surrounding hills running down into the town.

Age UK RespectAbility visit

Selwyn from Barrow & District Age UK RespectAbility Group came into store to raise awareness of the many free activity groups available to the local people aged 50 or over. Isolation amongst the older generation can also be addressed not only by attending these groups, but they may have skills and knowledge, and becoming a volunteer with an existing group or by introducing a new activity, they could enrich their own life and possibly others.

Emma thanks Asda opticians who spotted life-threatening brain condition

Asda customer Emma Ward paid a special visit to our Hyde store to say a big thank you to our optician colleagues who spotted a serious brain condition that could have resulted in death or paralysis if it wasn’t diagnosed and treated.

She’d made several visits to the doctors and hospital with terrible head pain and, after three months with no diagnosis, she decided to go for an eye test to rule out needing glasses. Read more

Christine draws on her cancer experience to support Asda customers

Christine Conway from our West Bridgford store in Nottingham has been doing a great job this month raising awareness and money for our Tickled Pink breast cancer charity campaign.

She was diagnosed with breast cancer 11 years ago and now uses her experience to help people in a similar situation. Read more
