At the Tickled Pink stall with the Mayor and Mayoress

For the past five years Mary Williams, our Community Champion at Asda Wrexham, has organised a Family Fun Day in Wrexham – and this year’s was the biggest yet!

The sunshine certainly brought out the crowds – thanks to everyone who came and helped make it such a fun community event. Colleagues from Asda Warrington and Asda Chester also helped out on the day. The event raised £896.62 for Tickled Pink.

Thousands of children across the country are stepping up to our Asda Active challenge this summer.

Our team of Community Champions have equipped primary schools, community groups and clubs with pedometers to record the number of steps the children can achieve in the run-up to their sports days and are then supplying medals, prizes, drinks and snacks to the youngsters at the events.

St Helens Asda Active

Gaynor Winstanley, Community Champion at our St Helens store, handed out bottled water, certificates and medals to children from a local primary school. Youngsters took part in a range of activities, with reception class children trying the high jump and year six pupils running the 100m.

We recently posted on Facebook about Lyndsay who personalised our Piñata Surprise cakes for her six-year-old twins Liam and Ellie’s birthday. This prompted lots more customers to share their cake designs with us too.

We love this delicious ice cream cake that Asda customer Misty created using some tasty treats from her local store!

Misty, from Tweedbank in Galashiels, shared this fab pic on Instagram of her first attempt at an ice cream cake and said it was easy peasy to create. She was inspired by a recipe she spotted on a cooking show where they created an ice cream bombe.

The original method was to line a big bowl with clingfilm, add swiss roll and fill it with slightly melted ice cream before putting it back in the freezer. Misty decided to adapt it using a cake tin as she thought it would be better with more cake!
