Welcome to Asda Westbrook

Hello, I'm Gareth Woods. If you need to contact the store for any reason, please use the phone number on the left. We would like to extend a warm welcome to all our customers and encourage any feedback about your shopping experience at our store.

Well done to our Warrington area Community Champions who teamed up to promote their roles and the Asda Foundation on a local radio station.

Colleagues in the studio

Liz Cotterill from Warrington, Cathy Robinson from Westbrook and Beky Wakefield from Birchwood went along to Radio Warrington and were interviewed about everything relating to Asda’s work in the community.

They were on the air during the station’s Thursday afternoon slot and even answered questions from listeners about Asda’s community work.

Cooking with Woolston Brook School

I was joined by Liz Cotterill from Asda Warrington when I called in to see Woolston Brook School to lend a hand with cooking. The group made their own dip to try. A great time was had by all!

Colleagues volunteer cemetery clean-up

St Mary's is a closed cemetery in Penketh which has been lovingly looked after & renovated for nearly 8 years by a group of volunteers. The 'Friends of St Mary's Cemetery' have been supported by all three Asda stores for the last 5 years. Cathy, from our Westbrook store, Liz, from Warrington Cockhedge, and Beky from Birchwood regularly go down to weed graves, rake leaves or generally tidy up. Following fundraising over the last two years, including our in-store green token vote, Westbrook are proud to have contributed to the new 'Memorial Headstone' which was put in this week. The stone marks the grave of baby Emily, the first to be buried here, but represents & celebrates all those in unmarked graves buried on the site.

Ten-year-old Leon fell in love with our Lovable Huggable Panda when he saw it in our Hunts Cross store in Liverpool – but his mum said he couldn’t have it until her next payday.

Colleagues reuniting Leon with Pandy

He found an empty cardboard box, popped the panda inside it and quietly wrote a message on the box: “My mum didn’t have enough money to buy me Pandy so she’s buying me Pandy on 15th June so please don’t buy him as it will make me cry. Thank you so much from Hopeful Future Owner.”

Our colleagues at the store were so moved when section leader David Bateman found the message they clubbed together to buy Pandy – and put out an appeal on Facebook to track down his “future owner”.

Lots of people shared David’s appeal, including the Liverpool Echo – and Leon’s mum Debbie Ashworth spotted their post when she was flicking through her Facebook feed.

She took Leon back into the store – and there were smiles all round when Pandy was handed over.

Four-year-old Charlie has non-verbal autism and always found shopping an overwhelming experience – until his mum Jenny came up with a simple visual aid that keeps him interested and engaged on his trips to Asda.

Charlie and Jenny

Jenny Barnett, who works at our Middlesbrough store, was inspired by the way Charlie’s school uses symbols and pictures to help him communicate. So she came up with a velcro-backed visual shopping list showing lots of different items.

Now her picture sheets – available at the store’s customer service desk – are helping to make the weekly shop less stressful for other shoppers and their children.
