Asda Foundation grant for local community centre

Community Champion Gaynor Winstanley presenting a £5000 cheque from the Asda Foundation to local community centre PARK FARM in Carr Mill, who organise different activities for groups of adults and children. The money will help with essential roofing work on the building.

It's a busy December in store at Asda St Helen's!

Christmas came early to Asda St Helens today when thanks to the Rotary Santa and his sleigh came to visit! We've got loads going on in store this December – if you're shopping here look out for: * Two local school choirs performing in store * Valley Brass Band performing outside the store * Awareness Event supporting our local Cancer group in store * Two more visits from Santa and his sleigh * Bag packers from a local children's rugby club to help you at this busy time of year To all our customers Asda St Helens would like to wish everyone a Happy Christmas and New Year!

Asda customer Penelope posted a lovely message on Facebook thanking our Middlesbrough colleague Wendy for the way she calmed her little boy Junior when he was throwing a tantrum.

Penelope said her shopping trip with Junior had turned into a real ordeal and she was dreading getting to the checkout with an unhappy toddler.

But 16-month-old Junior immediately calmed down when Wendy took him in her arms and entertained him as she scanned Penelope’s shopping.

Penelope, 26, said: “She was so good with him – she was just lovely. It genuinely meant the world to me to be given just a little helping hand.”

Asda’s first ever pizza counter opened 30 years ago at our Nottingham West Bridgford store – and our colleague Karen has been serving delicious pizzas to customers since the very first day.

Store manager Tony Brennan said: “Our customers love Karen just as much as the pizzas she makes and some even ask for her by name.”

She said: “I love seeing the same faces week in week out at the pizza counter; if certain customers don’t come in, I get worried as I know that some customers just love our pizzas.”
