A grant from the Asda Foundation helped pay for a new kit for a junior rugby club in St Helens.

Gaynor Winstanley, Community Champion at Asda St Helens, was invited to watch one of Pilkington Recs Under 8s’ training sessions after they used part of the £1,000 to buy the smart new strip.

Gaynor said: "I was invited to a training session so they could showcase their new kits. They were very excited, their little faces could not stop smiling.

“To me this is what the job is all about – making a difference in our communities.”

He now does his weekly shop there – and colleagues like Penny Lindsay love having a laugh and a chat with him as they take him round the store finding the things he needs.
