I was proud to meet our very own super hero, four year old Millie Higgs, who saved her mum last week.
Last Thursday Millie's mum had a seizure and passed out in their home. Millie had to get help quickly – she raised the alarm by shouting so that her neighbours could hear her, and then had to pass the door key through the letter box so they could open the front door.
There was one more hurdle – the door was chained inside and Millie could not reach it. She was clever enough to find something to stand on so that she could reach the chain and had to do all this on her own whilst her mum lay on the floor.
The headmistress from Millie's school, Ysgol Abererech, Mrs Annwen Hughes, contacted me over the weekend by phone and brought a letter to store for me asking if I could come to school to hear Millie's brave story at assembly.
I went along to a very happy and emotional assembly at this local school which is filled with kindness and respect for all. I took a certificate for a very brave girl which I made especially for her, along with a Super Girl doll and gorgeous Super Girl George pjs which she loved. The smiles all round were lovely and I must admit I did fill up. We also gave Millie a bouquet of flowers to give to her mum, who was so happy for the her fantastic daughter! A very lovely Community day indeed.
