Burgess Park Food Project

Asda Old Kent Road's Community Champion Claire presented a £500 cheque to the Burgess Park Food Project at Glengall Wharf Garden after they won our latest in-store green token vote. This is a group of local people keen to get growing sustainably in this part of north Peckham. They have a range of skills and experience, are developing the site as a resource for local people to share skills related to food and growing.

Claire presents a cheque to Advising London

Claire, our Community Champion, was delighted to be invited to the official launch of the new advice centre for local charity Advising London, This was the perfect opportunity to present our cheque for £16,698 from Asda Foundation Significant Project Funding which has paid for all new ICT systems to provide an even better service to our local community. The charity's mission is to tackle poverty, social injustice, disadvantage and discrimination, to ensure citizens understand and are enabled to exercise their legal rights and responsibilities, to actively promote financial and social inclusion for all and to educate and advise those in financial need.

Our Tonypandy store’s Community Champion Karen Thomas laid on a special behind-the-scenes tour for a group of local school children.

The children had a go on the tills

Three classes from Penrhys Primary School visited the store and took a look behind the scenes.

Karen said: “When I found out the school were coming in for a visit I rang them to see if I could help and give them a full tour of the store. They were so excited that they could do this.”
