Welcome to Asda Nuneaton

Mike Phillips My name is Gary Brown and I am the Store Manager at Nuneaton. I am really looking forward to supporting some great community based charities and meeting some fantastic volunteers to offer support in our local community.

Our #cakemyday team turned up with treats and a cheque for £10,000 when they called in at an equestrian centre which helps disabled people learn to ride.

Riders and volunteers with the cheque and cakes

The Asda Foundation grant will help Nuneaton and North Warwickshire Equestrian, Horse Therapy and Disabled Riding Schools and Pony Club install new security gates to provide riders with a safer place to ride.
The riding centre provides lessons to around 120 people of all ages, abilities and disabilities each week to help with co-ordination, balance and confidence.

All the money raised is split equally between Breast Cancer Care and Breast Cancer Now. With your help we’ve raised more than £44 million so far since the Tickled Pink campaign started 19 years ago.

Community Retailer of the YearWe’re delighted to announce that we’ve been named as Community Retailer of the Year at the Retail Industry Awards for the third successive year.

The panel of judges were impressed by the impact our community-focused initiatives continue to have had on the local areas around our stores.

We were praised by the judges for an “exceptionally good” award submission that highlighted just how much work Asda undertake in the community.

“It blows away the myth that independents do community work better than multiples,” said one judge. Another member of the panel said its community work was in line with what Asda’s parent company, Wal-Mart, is doing in America “to get communities to embrace the company rather than pushing it away”.

From Monday (5th October) we’re required by law to introduce a 5p charge for our plastic carrier bags that were previously free of charge.

Carrier bag charges

These charges apply to all major retailers – not just Asda – and are already in force in Northern Ireland, Wales and Scotland.

Some customers have asked for more information about how the charges will work – here are the answers to some frequently asked questions:

Do the new carrier bag charges apply to Home Shopping deliveries

You can avoid the carrier bag charges by checking the “no bags” option when you order. If you wish to have your shopping delivered in bags we will charge a flat fee of 40p.
