Volunteers and group members with Community Champion Claire

Mearns Kirk Helping Hands in Newton Mearns near Glasgow is run mostly by volunteers and offers groups including a friendship club for those suffering from isolation, a lunch club for people living with dementia, and a bereavement group. They also run keep fit, relaxation therapy and art therapy sessions.

The new minibus will enable the charity to transport members to the clubs and groups they offer – and they’re also planning to use it to take them to social events such as trips to parks, museums and concerts.
