Welcome to Asda Newton Abbot

The store manager at Asda Newton Abbot is Jason Lee. If you need to contact the store for any reason, please use the phone number on the left.

A big well done to our checkout colleague John Dalton who’s struck gold with Asda’s first ever display at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show.

John with his award

John, who works at our Carlisle store, created a stunning design called Galacticus that wowed the judges and won him the Gold Award in the ‘Destination Unknown’ category using flowers sourced from Asda’s suppliers.

He came up with an idea for a spectacular creation based on space featuring colourful flowers weaving through metal ‘flying saucers’.

Check out this amazing personalised remote control model of a George lorry that Craig Lawther made to say thank you to his supportive colleagues at our Gosforth store.

Craig and colleagues with the lorry

Craig has worked in the store’s George department for nine years and built the model from scratch using a kit – and delighted customers and colleagues by driving it through the store and the warehouse.

The three-foot long lorry even has the names of some of the George colleagues printed on its side after Craig asked a graphic designer friend to make a special sign.

Regular Asda Shirley customer Pat Baxter made an extra visit to the store this week – calling in to thank our colleague Dave Cherry for helping her after she had a nasty fall in the street.

Pat and Dave

Dave was first on the scene when Pat tripped over the kerb in Solihull town centre, badly cutting her nose. He helped her up, stemmed the bleeding with his T-shirt, called an ambulance, and stayed with her. Pat needed stitches in her nose and suffered a bruised wrist.

A passer-by who witnessed the accident posted about Dave’s kindness on Facebook – and the post received thousands of reactions and positive comments.

A big thank you to all the customers and colleagues at Asda Dewsbury who helped fill 18 trolleys with donations for Batley Food Bank – with support from all the candidates standing for the local seat in the General Election.

Sharon with the candidates

The store’s Community Champion Sharon Kingswood organised a 15-hour collection marathon over the weekend to support the food bank as a way of celebrating the store’s 15th birthday.

The food bank was championed by Batley and Spen MP Jo Cox, who was murdered last year, and candidates standing for the Dewsbury seat in the General Election lent their support when they stopped campaigning for an hour as part of a national initiative organised by her widower Brendan.

Rita and Stan, who are both in their 90s, used to be regular shoppers at our Ashton-under-Lyne store … until Rita had a fall two years ago and they had to move into a care home.

Lindsey, Stan, Anne and Rita

They’d really missed their weekly chats with Anne at her checkout, so they were overjoyed when colleagues at the store arranged a special trip for them this week – and a reunion over a cup of tea.
