Celebrating our Hidden Heroes
Here at Asda Long Eaton we love Christmas – so we've been sending our Asda Elf (me!) out into the community to celebrate what really matters at this time of year. Part of this year's campaign is to find Hidden Heroes in the community and reward them for the great work they do around Long Eaton and Erewash. Our first set of heroes were the volunteers at the Erewash V.I.P'S, a visually impaired group based in Breaston which helps people from all over Erewash. The ladies – Nancy, Avril, Ann, Margaret and another Ann – work tirelessly to support the group by organising entertainment food day trips and holidays for its members. On top of all this they make sure the group runs smooth and everyone gets food and tea and coffee each week the group meets. I also volunteer at the group as part of my Community role at Asda to see the work they do first hand, so who better than the volunteers to be the first to receive our surprise thank you' than these ladies? I went along to the group on Wednesday the 7th December and surprised them with a Hidden Hero badge and an Extra Special Belgian Chocolate Christmas tree each. We took some Elfie Selfie photos with the volunteers and some of the members too. We have more heroes lined up, so keep your eye on this page.
