Welcome to Asda Dalgety Bay

The store manager at Asda Dalgety Bay is Lynne Harrison. If you need to contact the store for any reason, please use the phone number on the left.

In less than half an hour our amazing colleague Andy Reid can go from looking after the fruit and veg in our Dalgety Bay store to rescuing people who’ve got into trouble in the Firth of Forth.

Andy Reid

Andy’s a member of the local Coastguard and a specialist in helping people cut off by tide and stuck in the mud.

He’s been given special permission to combine his Asda and Coastguard roles and carries a pager with him at all times so he can respond to emergencies.

Presentation for loyal customers Vera and Ken

Vera and Ken Crawford met in the Kinema Ballroom on the 1st September 1955 and were married in St Leonard's Church in Dunfermline on 6th July 1957. They have four children, ten grandchildren and nine great grandchildren scattered all over the world. It is Vera's 80th birthday in July and Ken's 80th in August, and they will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary in July. We presented them both with a bunch of flowers and an Easter Egg ahead of their birthdays and anniversary. This July marks our store's ninth birthday too.

Ten-year-old Leon fell in love with our Lovable Huggable Panda when he saw it in our Hunts Cross store in Liverpool – but his mum said he couldn’t have it until her next payday.

Colleagues reuniting Leon with Pandy

He found an empty cardboard box, popped the panda inside it and quietly wrote a message on the box: “My mum didn’t have enough money to buy me Pandy so she’s buying me Pandy on 15th June so please don’t buy him as it will make me cry. Thank you so much from Hopeful Future Owner.”

Our colleagues at the store were so moved when section leader David Bateman found the message they clubbed together to buy Pandy – and put out an appeal on Facebook to track down his “future owner”.

Lots of people shared David’s appeal, including the Liverpool Echo – and Leon’s mum Debbie Ashworth spotted their post when she was flicking through her Facebook feed.

She took Leon back into the store – and there were smiles all round when Pandy was handed over.

Four-year-old Charlie has non-verbal autism and always found shopping an overwhelming experience – until his mum Jenny came up with a simple visual aid that keeps him interested and engaged on his trips to Asda.

Charlie and Jenny

Jenny Barnett, who works at our Middlesbrough store, was inspired by the way Charlie’s school uses symbols and pictures to help him communicate. So she came up with a velcro-backed visual shopping list showing lots of different items.

Now her picture sheets – available at the store’s customer service desk – are helping to make the weekly shop less stressful for other shoppers and their children.

Happy 80th birthday to our popular Asda Bootle checkout colleague Margy Coyle!

Margy, second from right, with colleagues

Colleagues decorated her checkout overnight as a birthday surprise – and she said: “I had a tear in my eye when I saw what they had organised for me. It was quite emotional.”

Margy, who’s a great grandma, received a large bunch of flowers and a cake from the store, and colleagues took her out for a meal for her big day.
