Welcome to Asda Chelmsford

Hi! My name is Jason and I am the General Store Manager at Asda Chelmsford.
We pride ourselves as being the hub of the community and the store has a real community spirit; being located in the centre of the village square. I look forward to hearing from you. If you have any questions or comments please contact me by the details to the left.

Our Facebook fans have been sharing amazing pics of their loved ones with our festive Christmas gnomes.

Emma's pic

When we posted on Facebook about customer Alfie’s nan Pat, who Alfie says looks like our Mrs Claus gnome, loads of people shared pics they’d taken of our gnomes in store.

The gnomes are available in selected stores now – please call ahead to check availability if you’re planning a special trip.

Little Matilda loves hippos – so her mum Michelle got in touch with us to say how excited she was to see our new Holly the Hippo Christmas chocolate.

Matilda and her Holly the Hippo chocolate

We posted about our new range of Christmas character chocolates on Facebook – and Michelle commented to say that three-year-old Matilda would definitely be wanting her own Holly Hippo as she’s mad about them. So we sent Matilda a gift card so she could pick one up at her local Parkgate Shirley store.

Our wonderful army of Asda Elves will be out and about in the run-up to Christmas celebrating the “hidden heroes” who make a big difference in their local communities.

Asda Elves in Liverpool

The elves are better known the rest of the year as our Community Champions. All of our larger stores have one, and they play an active role in their local community, working with schools, charities and other good causes.

Supported by grants from the Asda Foundation, they’ll be spreading festive cheer throughout December – putting on Christmas parties for senior citizens and people who live on their own, and helping local groups who look after the homeless and vulnerable at Christmas time.

Colleagues at our Barrow-in-Furness store invited 75 elderly residents from local care homes in for a special Christmas event – including the chance to shop for gifts with the help of local schoolchildren.

Martha, Hannah and Jessica with Douglas

The event, arranged by the store’s Community Champion Gill Gerrish, is a chance for the senior citizens to buy gifts and cards for carers or family members and decorations for their rooms, as well as getting together to enjoy Christmas treats in the Asda cafe.

One of the residents who came along was 81-year-old Douglas Scrogham, pictured above with Martha Tickle, Hannah Bethell and Jessica Gorry-Edwards from Furness Academy.

Douglas said: “I’ve been really looking forward to this – it’s all about the community coming together. Martha, Hannah and Jessica were lovely.”

Martha helped several of the guests, including Hugh Harris, below, and said: "A lot of older people don’t get the chance to get out at Christmas and spend time with other people, so it’s lovely to be a part of something like this.
