We’re trialling these fab wonky veg boxes as part of our ‘Beautiful on the Inside’ range in 128 stores in our continued effort to tackle food waste across the supply chain and to help famers.

Wonky veg box

The exclusive wonky veg boxes are packed with peculiar potatoes, crooked carrots and curved cucumbers which are all in season, as well as knobbly peppers, cabbages, onions, leeks and parsnips. They’re just £3.50 each, which is cheaper than regular shaped fruit and veg, and there will 20 boxes available in selected stores from today as part of a trial to see if the box is a hit with customers.

Asda has been the scene for some of the most important moments in the life of Lee Kirkby and his wife Rachel.

Lee, Rachel and Amara at Castle Howard near York

They visited our Kingswood store in Hull on their first date and a few years later Rachel went into labour in our Monks Cross store in York.

Lee, who’s a youth worker at a church in York, met Rachel in his church youth group when they were young and decided to do something a little different for their first date – a cooking and baking night!
