Welcome to Asda Carlisle

The store manager at Asda Carlisle is Louise Swift. If you need to contact the store for any reason, please use the phone number on the left.

It’s a year since Cumbria was hit by devastating floods, so our Carlisle store’s Community Champion Niki Iveson met up with local volunteer Richard Francis to talk about what’s happened since – and to present him with an Asda Hidden Hero award for all the work he’s done.

Niki and Richard

Local chef Richard was at the forefront of efforts to help Carlisle people cope in the aftermath of the floods – including organising The Big Cumbrian Christmas Day Get Together. Niki said Richard is “the go-to guy when you’re in need”.

This Christmas we’re looking for the Hidden Heroes who make a big difference to people’s lives in local communities – like Michael who gives up his time to cook hot meals for people who rely on the Carlisle Foodbank.

Michael and Niki

Michael Cullen, 64, turned to the foodbank when things went wrong in his life – but says: “When I got back on my feet I decided to give something back.”

He was nominated for an Asda Hidden Hero award by our Carlisle store’s Community Champion Niki Iveson, who volunteers at the foodbank and takes in all the food that our customers and colleagues donate.

Michael became a chef after leaving the army, and he uses his experience to make nourishing and tasty dishes for people to eat at the foodbank or frozen meals to take away and heat up at home.

Community Champion Niki with some of the bikers

Asda Carlisle welcomed bikers to store on Saturday as the Leviathans Motorbike Club set off on their annual Mission Christmas Santa Run in aid of Cash for Kids.

More than 40 bikers completed the 20-mile-round trip around Carlisle to raise money for the charity – they’re hoping to beat last year’s total of £1,000.

The Asda Foundation is supporting grass roots sports clubs by giving grants of up to £2,000 to buy new kit and training equipment. We’ve had a great response from our stores’ local communities throughout the UK and have donated grants to more than 180 clubs so far totalling £163,814.

Cumbria Wheelchair Sports Club

One of the clubs who received an Asda Foundation grant is the basketball team at Cumbria Wheelchair Sports Club, CSWC Panthers, who used the money to buy home and away kits for their first and second teams. Asda Carlisle Community Champion Niki Iveson went along to watch their first game and said the new kit must have been a “good luck charm” as both teams won their games against St Helens Vikings.

Wheelchair basketball sponsored shirts

Great to see the new Asda Foundation sponsored shirts are in for the wheelchair basketball team. They played their first two games in them against a St Helens team, the Vikings. We could be a good luck charm as they won both games! Well done guys, keep it up.
