Welcome to Asda Cardiff Bay

The store manager at Asda Cardiff Bay is Gareth Jones. If you need to contact the store for any reason, please use the phone number on the left.

Colleagues from our Cardiff store helped pupils at Coryton Primary School get active with a donation of sports and playground equipment – just in time for the school’s sports day on the last day of term.

Local school children enjoyed playing football with their new goals from Asda

Equipment including badminton racquets, golf sets, football goals and volleyball nets were delivered to the school, located on Hollybush Estate, which also runs a number of after school sports clubs.

Little Evan Matthews loved the limited edition Coco Pops Croc Prints so much colleagues at our Halifax store were determined to help when they heard how distraught he was when his mum found they’d been discontinued and she couldn’t get them for him.

Evan

Six-year-old Evan has autism and sensory problems that mean he likes routine and is reluctant to try anything new. So there were smiles all round when Kellogg’s responded to an appeal from the store’s community champion Amanda Clegg and managed to track down the last remaining boxes for him.

His mum Laura said: “Everyone’s been amazing in helping me to source some more boxes. We can’t thank Amanda, Asda and Kellogg’s enough.”

Our Bromborough store has trialled a successful ‘Quiet Hour’ to help autistic customers and others who struggle with loud noises.

Alex and Helen-Louise outside the store

The store turned off the music, dimmed the lights and handed out maps of the store to make the shopping experience more comfortable for guests from Autism Together.

The store’s community champion Helen-Louise Sestan-Burton regularly helps the group and invited members including volunteer Alex, who’s autistic himself, to do their weekly shop during the trial.

Happy birthday to our oldest colleague Tom Brogan who’s 92 today!

Tom helps regular customer Margaret

Tom, a porter at our Wigan store, says he has no plans to retire as he loves meeting and helping regular customers like Margaret Barker, who had a stroke last year and needs a mobility scooter to get out and shop now.

Margaret, 66, said: “When I came back after my stroke everyone was really helpful but Tom stuck out. He always has a smile on his face and will do anything to help you – he’s such a nice gentleman. For 92 he’s unbelievable really.”

Our bakery colleague Gary Gordon has struck up a great friendship with 85-year-old customer Audrey Bond, a keen baker herself who comes in to our Barking store every week and passes on some of her fantastic tips.

She’s helped him improve her favourite product – tiger chest bread – and she often brings in home-baked goodies for the team.

Audrey and Gary at Asda Barking

Gary says: “I never got the chance to meet my grandparents so I call Audrey my grandma. When she turns up I stop what I’m doing and give her my full attention – she’s wonderful.”

Thanks to Audrey’s advice, he says his tiger chest bread is now “as good as you can get”.
