Welcome to Asda Cambridge

Hi I'm Shane Collier, the new store manager at Asda Cambridge. I've worked for Asda for over eight years now and previously worked at Asda Luton. I'm really looking forward to working at the Cambridge store.

Our heroic colleague Shaun Priddle is running 200 miles around England, Scotland and Wales to raise money for a life-changing operation for a young customer.

Shaun, who is security section leader at our Bridgend store, will run a marathon a day for nine days in August to help 17-year-old Jade Owen raise £60,000 so she can go to America for an operation to enable her to walk for the first time.

Jade, who has cerebral palsy, is a regular customer at the store. Shaun said: "Jade is a really inspiring character. She’s a wonderful girl.

Meet young Kyron Howie – the four-year-old boy who’s fascinated by Asda.

Kyron’s mum Bobbie Howie shared this great picture of him in his own Asda shirt and badge.

Kyron, who’s from Rishton, loves to visit his local store in Accrington and get into the trolley to do the weekly shop with Bobbie. Not surprisingly his favourite aisle is the toy aisle where he can find his favourite Disney and My Little Pony toys!

The mystery behind a passport found in the car park of Asda Carlisle has been solved – thanks to our Community Life Champion Niki Iveson and the detective work of Asda customer Helen Strickland.

Passport reunited with owner

The passport, which was found in February, expired in 1965 but colleagues at the store realised it must be valuable to somebody. No one came forward to claim it so earlier this month the store’s Community Life Champion Niki Iveson issued an appeal in the Cumberland News to try to find the owner.

The Asda “Pocket Tap” has been associated with saving you money ever since it first appeared on our TV screens in 1977.

Old pocket tap advert

The pockets may have changed over the years (check out the quilted pocket in the 1970s ad above!) but the message has remained the same. In fact the Pocket Tap is now so famous that the Royal Association of the Deaf even made it the official sign for Asda.

Some of our customers will remember the original Asda pocket tap TV adverts from the 1970s starring “Carry on” star Hattie Jaques and “Rising Damp” star Leonard Rossiter.
